The cavity search

After packing up the dog on Sunday since Lisa was now gone, I decided I would go to Abbotsford/Chilliwack to meet Jonathon the next day to ride Sumas Mtn. Not 5 minutes after finally arriving in Abbotsford, I get an email of him bailing. Its too bad, Sumas was actually pretty damn fun. Trails are tight single track that had lots of little climbs mixed into the descents. Sumas mtn is definitely worth returning to another time with more dependable people. Wanker.

exit of emma peel. They have done a lot of work.

Ahhh nothing like showing up at a lonely border crossing at 9pm with bikes and crap everywhere in a VW van.
Guard:   "Where you going? "
Me:        "Emmmm Leavenworth"
Guard:   "How long"
Me:        "maybe about 3 weeks?"
Guard:    "In Leaveworth?"
Me:         "no."
Guard:     "Well why did you say that? " You can see where this is going.
Guard:     "Got any fruits/vegetables back there... ?" DAMN ... One avocado and two lemons. "Go inside and ask for Mr. Jellyfinger. He's gonna take a look at this van of  yours. "
Inside:     "Why don't you have a job?"
Me:          "I do have a job. I'm just not doing it."

This just rattled on for a good little while. Eventually after confiscating my lemons and avocado I was sent on my way. Damn Sumas Mtn.

The evening was spent in a lovely little parking lot at the Nooksack River casino. A bonus is that they include a full size locomotive in the evening for your sleeping pleasure. Can't complain too hard though... it was free and zero hassle.

I hit Leavenworth today around 9:30AM. Leavenworth is a great little town. The Bavarians woould be proud. After puttering around for a bit in town Maya and I headed out up Icicle ridge. This thing was an asskicker. 2000 feet of climbing in 3.4 kms. I was completely knackered/dehydrated. Upon retun Maya and I downed an entire gallon of water. Pretty views though. Tonight we are seeing if you can actually camp in a McDonald's parking lot.
